Holi - A Festival of Joy or Just a Fob Off for Marijuana shakes and Drugs
What is Holi?
Holi is a hindu spring festival celebrated in Indian subcontinent as a symbol of arival of spring. It is also known as festival of colour and joy and is also associated with various hindu mythologies.
For me the holi is an opportunity to be a kid again, and to celebrate and cheer people without any hesitation ,it just like applying colours to the souls, and wishing these colours brings happiness in their life.
But the reality is much different from this, people see holi just as the arrival of the day on which there is no bondation over intoxication and extavagent marijuana shakes
"Bhang thandai"- an almond-flavoured milkshake blended with cannabis - is widely served, from upper class private parties to street revelries. On this particular day, its use is completely acceptable for all adults, from youths to parents and grandparents.
While India is a signatory to a 1961 UN convention essentially banning cannabis, the substance has always been been part of the country's cultural heritage. Bhang is sold for consumption through government licensed outlets.
Under the influence of intoxication various cases of rivalry are reported and turned to unpeaceful and dangerous situations.
As usual, we can expect the traditional promises to be made of renewed friendship, forgiveness for sins committed in the recent past, and a fun-filled day of frolic marked by a splashing of coloured powder, water and balloons, and a chanting "Holi Hai".
Traditionally spring flowers ,berries, spices and other plants were used for making coloured Gulal and wet colours from flowers like hibiscus etc. But now various inoragnic and chemical colours and crackers are out in market and they also harms human body as well as had an adverse effect on environment.
Effects of chemical colours
The colours contain high toxic chemicals which come in content with our skin and enter inside our body through pores. Thus give rise to skin and other diseases.

- Leads to dermatitis due to rashes and itching.
- Directly affects the hair. Once the colour gets dry, it results in dry and brittle hair.
Effects of colours on water..
During holi celebration huge amount of water is wasted in our country various region are water scarcitic and people don't even have enough water for drinking purpose and we wasted liters of water in colouring others and show so matured behaviour..
At last I only wanna say that please think thrice before wasting water on holi cause the water you are wasting is someone dreams to get enough to drink. Wishing you and your family a very happy and peace.
